What We're Looking for:

We want to invest in someone who is looking for more than just a job, but a fun career in payroll. This position involves strong attention to detail and being able to multitask and prioritize work. You will work directly with business owners, bookkeepers, admins, CPA’s and brokers. You will be consulting, advising, and answering support calls for a number of clients; setting up payroll for new clients; and processing payroll taxes and reporting. A very friendly, positive, outgoing, people-oriented demeaner with a genuine desire for helping others is a must.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or equivalent, 3 years of payroll and/or accounting experience with a strong understanding of accounting principles. Proficient with Excel, Word, QuickBooks, and multiple Internet Browsers.

The starting annual salary is $50,000 with a great opportunity for advancement depending upon your performance. Therefore, as your abilities and experience increase, salary increases will be provided as well as when the company meets growth milestones.

JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB TITLE:  Payroll Accountant

REPORTS TO:  VP of Operations

PAY TYPE:  Salaried, Exempt

WORK SCHEDULE:  Full-time

COMPENSATION:  Starting Annual Salary of $50,000

 

GENERAL PURPOSE:


The Payroll Accountant is responsible for multi-state payroll processing for numerous clients in multiple industries; advising and supporting clients; the setup of new clients into Easytrack's payroll system; the setup of state and local payroll accounts; special projects involving amending returns, reconciling, and cleanup of new clients' past payroll problems; payroll regulations research; regular continuing payroll education; daily processing of payroll taxes, processing monthly, quarterly and year-end tax returns; and assisting with general administrative duties related to payroll.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Accurately and timely process payroll tax returns and the payment of payroll taxes on a daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Perform all quarter-end and year-end audits and adjustments.
  1. Setting up new clients into the payroll system, which involves setup and support of multi-state and multi-jurisdiction payrolls, complex balance calculations and a thorough understanding of pretax/post-tax deductions, how various pay types are handled, etc. Calculate and file amended returns to correct errors from previous payroll services.
  1. Communicate and provide World Class Service to client base located remotely throughout Colorado and the country. Respond to and resolve client inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, payroll-related accounting, and payroll-related human resources. Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and wage and hour laws.
  1. Review and process all payroll-related client data and utilize payroll reports to assist clients with gathering the appropriate information they need for their accounting and payroll purposes and create custom reports as needed.
  1. Develop strong business partnerships with client counterparts in Human Resources and Accounting.
  1. Keep up-to-date and proficient on new product enhancements and changes, and payroll and labor law changes via in-house training, seminars, webinars, and studying course materials.

 

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Payroll Administrative duties, which include sending out client communications, updating the company database, updating forms and templates, updating the CRM, documentation of procedures, and other general payroll administrative tasks as assigned.
  2. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  1. Certification: None upon hire, but CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) required to be completed within the first year of employment.
  1. Experience: Minimum three years of payroll and/or accounting experience with a good understanding and knowledge of accounting principles.
  1. Skills/Abilities: A strong aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle interruption and changes without becoming less productive. Must be able to work under time constraints to ensure that deadlines are met. Demonstrated ability to listen and take direction. Strong ability and desire to learn new skills.
